What are the things that truly bring you joy and happiness? For me that is plants. Plants let me express my love and creativity all while receiving. They bring me such joy just watching them grow. Having a green thumb takes and intuitive awareness and an open mind. Paying close attention to each plant as they give you signs of how well they are doing., My intuition has grown greatly working with plants.
Soil
Getting a good balance of soil is a great place to start. Making sure the plants is retaining only what it needs to grow thrive and get plenty of oxygen. I like to mix orchid bark, and fox farm together. You just want the plant to not be bogged down staying sopping wet but get enough water to be perky and happy. I also love growing in Leca and using hydroponic fertilizer.. My alochasias are loving it!!

Light
Another very important aspect. Finding what you plant likes by paying attention to how its thriving. Noticing which direction your windows are facing and how much light is brought in thru each window. Especially after you repot or just bring it home. Looking for signs of shock and oddly yellowing leaves. I like to put it in good lighting right after a repot to make the shock less likely. I also have grow lights for the spaces that need a little more light. All in all you can tell if your plant is liking the area by not seeing burning of leaves and that the plant is producing and having new growth. I like to fertilize with
House Plant weekly.

Water
Another very import aspect. I dont water on a schedule but by each plant and its specific needs. As you work with the plant you can see what it is that they plant needs, I stay around a week between watering and vere on the underwatering side, unless i notice dried spots and wilting. Otherwise i check each plant and if still wet i got to the next. Leca i rinse every one to two weeks and reapply hydroponic fertilizer. Good rule of thumb is fresh equals more oxygen happy plant. Try getting a pot with a hole in the bottom unless you are REALLY paying attention to the plants needs other wise its easy to overwater. Root rot has a very distinct smell plus a lot of yellow usually along along with it. Heavily wet soil with poor drainage breads root rot.
